Synopsis:
READ_COMMENTS is a PHP script, free to use under GPL license, that
interface
the CUTEPHP database to place COMMENTS in any page with blog style.
CutePHP
is found here, it is a NEWS SYSTEM very simple to use using PHP.
Reason
that I programmed the script is that available add-on scripts for cutephp
did not work the way I want. For my articles or news I wanted the comments
appear
wth the news in blog style. The aj-fork did not provide the function
either.
READ_COMMENTS
Features:
Programmed
in PHP Language, returns n comments . It will read the comments.txt file
from CutePHP.
Easy
installation
and it include a
default configuration. Use a table format to display comments.
Possible
uses: Add related comments for a specific topic anywhere.
Requirements:
PHP 4.3.10 (I tested with this version but I think it will work with recent
versions of PHP). Easy to install 1 minute, need to modify no files from
the current CutePHP installation. CutePHP versions: It was tested on CutePHP
1.3.2.
Limitations:
I this time will show all comments, user, email and date posted. Need to
browse the news.txt to get the key of the specific topic or news. .

Installing
instructions:

Files: read_comments.php (size: size=2k)
Installation time: easy, 2-5 minutes, expertise:
low to medium, need to copy and browse the comments.txt file.
1. Download the read_comments.zip and unzip the file, 2. configure the variables
below, copy the read_coments.php to the directory where cutePHP is installed
2. Configure the following variables:
Configure here: browse the file /data/news.txt
of the cutePHP install and locate the first field (key)
format looks something like this:
1111575623|sv800|Title|description|||7||
this sample I use the key:: 111575623
$news_id = 1111575623;
-Optional: Configure here: date format - use PHP
format
$date_format = 'F j, Y, g:i a';
-Configure here: specified the current dir of cutePHP install, this is the
relative URL for the location of the file comments.txt,
replace <your current cutephp dir> with current cutephp dir
$all_comments = file("./<your current cutephp dir>/data/comments.txt");
// end of configuration, no mods after this line unless you want change
table width and color only
3. Sample how to call the script using "include" at your wish:
include("../<cutephp dir>/read_comments.php");
