Abstract:
This case outlines how America Online implemented and currently manages
its multi-country operations with a single instance of Enterprise One using a
shared services center strategy. It also addresses the challenges and pitfalls
at various stages of the process design and software implementation process.
Further, the case study highlights the path to attaining benefits of a
region-wide single instance of OneWorld including increasing control over its
business operations in the region and deployment of personnel; establishing a
region- wide highly responsive IT organization to support AOL's rapid growth and
minimizing total IT costs despite the significant challenges of multi-country
operations with significant country specific localizations.
